I too have had troubles receiving hardware service from the local vendor, for example it recently took 6 months to get a bad memory problem fixed. I knew the exact problem before I brought in the computer but the vendor was both lazy and incompetent and kept insisting there was nothing wrong with my computer (which hung every few hours). They ended up refunding my memory upgrade purchase price (bought from the local vendor) only AFTER they sold the bad memory to someone else, then they refunded the amount they resold it for, which was half of what I had paid. In the meantime, I had already purchased new memory from the USA to get the computer operational.

I now hadncarry all of my Apple items in need of repair back to the USA for servicing (an option not available to most residents).

When people ask me about Apple products (my family has 6 Macs, 4 ipads, 3 iphones,..) I unfortuantely always have to say “If it breaks, you are stuck, there is no reasonable channel for repair except shipping it to Europe or the USA.”.

Apple, you are missing a large market opportunity by not having a presence in Saudi Arabia, or anywhere in the Middle east.

At a minimum,
1) Open up a regional service center in, e.g. Dubai or Qatar, or
2) negotiate a deal with DHL to provide reasonable fixed shipping rates for a repair center globally.
3) Find a new authorized rep for the region, and then do more aggresive audits, training,… The current authorized Saudi rep is damaging your brand.
